Any activity that is done repetitively is transferred to the automatic pilot parts of the brain, to free up cognitive resources. With each repetition, an action becomes more ingrained and automatic, resulting in a habit. To that end, habits can be developed intentionally or unintentionally, consciously or unconsciously. Whether they originate externally or internally, habits contribute to our conscious and deliberate processes.
